Hammer-Fired Pistols

Hammer-fired pistols come in two flavors. Double-action/single-action (DA/SA) guns like the Sig P226 and P229, Beretta 92 and PX4, CZ 75, HK USP and P30 and FN FNX have a long first pull that cocks and fires, then short single-action pulls after, with a decocker to make it safe. Single-action-only guns (the 1911 has its own page) carry cocked with a thumb safety. Hammer-fired designs dominate the older part of the roster, which is why so many of the classics are still available in California when newer striker guns are not.
