Leupold Standard Gloss Scope Base – 1", High, Black
Leupold has been machining scope mounting hardware in Oregon since long before most of the current market existed, and their ring and base systems are the reference other makers get compared against. A scope base bridges your receiver and your rings. It's a simple part with no tolerance for sloppy fit, because every error here multiplies by the time it reaches the reticle.
It uses the Leupold base system, where the front ring rotates into a dovetail and the rear is windage-adjustable — a design that's been holding zero on hunting rifles for decades. Sized for a 1-inch tube, the traditional American standard still used across most hunting scopes. High rings give clearance for large objective bells, 50mm and up, or for a rifle with a tall comb. The trade is a higher sight line over the bore. Steel construction adds weight but resists deformation under clamping force better than aluminum, which is why it stays popular on hard-kicking rifles.
