The Small-Frame Autoloading Rifle, or SFAR is chambered in 7.62 NATO / .308 Win. It combines the ballistic advantages of .308 Winchester with the size of a traditional MSR. By utilizing superior materials and engineering, the SFAR is bigger and stronger where it needs to be and remains smaller and lighter than comparable .308-sized rifles.

Ruger SFAR .308/7.62, 20”
Purchased it early March. Went to the range attempted to run various mfr’s rounds, Federal, IMI, PMC, 150 to 168 grain. Nothing but cycling issues! Failure to feed, extract, bolt would not lock back. Maybe 5 continuous rounds fired. Fired approx. 150 rounds. Changed the gas setting a few times. Did not cycle well! I contacted Ruger informed them of the issues. I was informed that this model has the new gas regulator which bored out hole #2. I sent the rifle back for tech review and potential fix. We’ll see when I get it back this week, 4/1. I like Ruger, I’m sure they’ll make it right. They replaced an RPR about five years ago because the bolt would not close and open properly after firing a round. We’ll see!

Ruger SFAR 308
Enjoyed the reduced weigh, good muzzle brake, reliable cycling. Perfect hunting rifle for me.
