CA Compliance:
California compliance
- Status: Legal to own in California.
- Configuration: Featureless, built by WBT: grip fin in place of the pistol grip, flash hider removed and replaced with a thread protector (a muzzle brake is an optional upgrade). The magazine release works normally, so reloads are the same as anywhere else.
- Magazine: Standard detachable, 10-round.
- Your options: If this page shows a compliance selector, choose the build you prefer and we configure it that way. If not, this is the configuration we offer by default; on AR-pattern rifles and some AKs a different build is often possible, so ask us before you order.
- Upgrades: AK-pattern rifles take AK-specific parts only; AR-style grips do not fit, and the MagLock is not an option because an AK receiver does not open to swap the magazine. Rifles that use a standard AK-47 magazine can usually be built with a CompMag instead. The AK options we offer are in California Compliance Upgrades.

About this rifle
Arsenal SAM5-77 is an AK-pattern rifle chambered in .223/5.56 with a 16.3" barrel and a 10-round capacity. Finish: Black. An AK has a one-piece receiver that does not open like an AR, so the MagLock approach is not available; AKs are built featureless or with a CompMag, as described above.

Features 100% new-production parts and components. Bulgarian hot-die hammer forged receiver, bolt, and bolt carrier. Cold hammer-forged 16.3” barrel from Arsenal’s Bulgarian factory, built on Steyr manufacturing technology, hard-chrome plated bore and chamber. The AK-74 type front sight block has 24x1.5mm right-hand threads with the AK-133S flash hider installed. Includes AK scope rail, Intermediate length US-made 10” trapdoor buttstock (total length of pull 13.4”.) 922(r) compliant with US or imported magazines. Arsenal’s SAM5 receiver is milled from a hot-die hammer forged receiver blank by the Arsenal Co. of Bulgaria. Other milled-receiver AKs are machined from bar stock, but Arsenal’s hot-die hammer forging produces stronger and finer-grained steel. Internal voids and cooling deformations are eliminated by the 5-ton hammer forging process.
The forged receiver blank requires over 5.5 hours of milling before assembly. This forging and milling process is complex and time-intensive, but Arsenal’s meticulous attention to detail delivers a receiver of unequalled strength, precision and durability.
Includes FIME Group Enhanced Fire Control Group
Includes FM-922EUS, the Enhanced Fire Control Group (FCG) for AK- and RPK-based rifles. FIME's Enhanced FCG includes a single-hook trigger, hammer, disconnector, disconnector springs.
FIME’s Enhanced Fire Control Group delivers shortened trigger travel with an extremely smooth and light trigger pull. To prevent lever misfires, the disconnector face makes full contact with the hammer. Further, the disconnector is engineered with an elongated tail, which makes a full stop on the rear trigger guard rivet and the hammer stop prevents the hammer from slamming on the trigger. With these two designs functioning together, it eliminates the “trigger slap” found in competing products.
