Good Gun - Great with the Upgrades
I recently upgraded my Smith & Wesson SD40VE with the Apex Tactical Action Enhancement Kit and DPM Mechanical Recoil Reduction System, and it's like a whole new pistol. The stock version is reliable and budget-friendly, but the heavy 8-9 lb gritty trigger and snappy .40 S&W recoil made follow-up shots tough and accuracy inconsistent. The Apex kit lightened the trigger to about 5 lbs, making it shorter, smoother, and crisper—now I get sub-2" groups at 15 yards effortlessly. The DPM system cuts muzzle rise by 20-30%, softening felt recoil for faster, controlled shooting, though there's a slight spring noise. With these upgrades, it feeds flawlessly, feels more ergonomic, and delivers 2-3" groups at 25 yards, turning it into a solid home defense option.
