It clamps to a Picatinny rail, the MIL-STD-1913 slot pattern used on virtually every modern rifle, so mounting position is adjustable along the rail. 7075 aluminum is the stronger of the two common alloys, roughly 30 percent stiffer than 6061, at the same light weight.
