Leupold BackCountry Cross-Slot Scope Base – 1", Medium, Black
Leupold has been machining scope mounting hardware in Oregon since long before most of the current market existed, and their ring and base systems are the reference other makers get compared against. A scope base bridges your receiver and your rings. It's a simple part with no tolerance for sloppy fit, because every error here multiplies by the time it reaches the reticle.
It fits both Picatinny and Weaver rails, which covers nearly everything with a cross-slot rail on top. Sized for a 1-inch tube, the traditional American standard still used across most hunting scopes. Medium height is the usual answer for a standard hunting scope — enough clearance for a typical 40mm to 44mm objective without raising the scope more than necessary. 7075 aluminum is the stronger of the two common alloys, roughly 30 percent stiffer than 6061, at the same light weight.
