Leupold Ringmounts Gloss Ruger No. 1/77/11 Scope Base – 30mm, Low, Black
Leupold has been machining scope mounting hardware in Oregon since long before most of the current market existed, and their ring and base systems are the reference other makers get compared against. The base is the foundation of a scope mounting system — it bolts to the receiver and gives the rings something square and solid to clamp to. Get this part wrong and nothing above it can be right.
Sized for a 30mm tube, now the most common size on modern scopes because the larger tube allows more elevation travel. Low rings sit the scope as close to the bore as the objective allows, which gives the most natural cheek weld and the least holdover error at close range. Make sure your objective bell clears the barrel. Steel construction adds weight but resists deformation under clamping force better than aluminum, which is why it stays popular on hard-kicking rifles.
