Night vision and thermal both let you see in the dark, but they work differently. Thermal reads heat, so it finds animals in brush and total darkness. Image-intensified night vision amplifies existing light, giving a more natural image that makes identification easier.
Sensor resolution and refresh rate are the two specs that determine what a thermal unit can actually do at distance. On night vision, tube specification drives everything. Confirm both against your intended use before ordering.
