Weaver invented the cross-slot base pattern that the whole industry now calls a Weaver rail. Their mounting hardware has been the affordable, available answer on American hunting rifles for generations. A scope base bridges your receiver and your rings. It's a simple part with no tolerance for sloppy fit, because every error here multiplies by the time it reaches the reticle.
It fits the Weaver cross-slot pattern, standard on a huge number of American hunting rifles. Sized for a 30mm tube, now the most common size on modern scopes because the larger tube allows more elevation travel. High rings give clearance for large objective bells, 50mm and up, or for a rifle with a tall comb. The trade is a higher sight line over the bore. Steel construction adds weight but resists deformation under clamping force better than aluminum, which is why it stays popular on hard-kicking rifles.
