This Wilson Combat flat mainspring housing is the blued version of their Officer's Model (OM) housing for compact 1911 pistols. It replaces the factory mainspring housing at the bottom rear of the grip frame. A flat profile gives a straighter grip angle feel than an arched housing, and the blued finish matches carbon-steel frames.
