Polymer-frame pistols are lighter to carry and cheaper to build, and they are most of what sells today: the P365 and P320, Hellcat, M&P, VP9, PDP, XD, Ruger and Taurus lines, plus the hammer-fired HK USP and P30, Beretta PX4 and FN FNX. Weight matters most for carry; a polymer compact in 9mm typically weighs 18 to 24 ounces unloaded against 30-plus for a metal gun the same size. Every pistol here is on the California roster and ships with 10-round magazines.
