WHAT HAPPENED

WHY CALIFORNIA STORES CAN'T SELL GLOCKS

A new state law, AB 1127, changed what California dealers can sell. Here's the short version.

OCT 10, 2025AB 1127 signedCalifornia passes a law aimed at pistols that can be converted to full-auto with a drop-in part.
JULY 1, 2026Dealer sales stopCalifornia gun stores can no longer sell new pistols built on that design, which covers most Glocks.
JULY 2026The fight goes to courtThe U.S. Department of Justice and others sue. So far no court has blocked the law.
LATE SEPT 2026Glock 43X CA approvedGlock's redesigned 43X is added to the Roster, the first Glock legal to buy new again.
WHAT'S A “CRUCIFORM TRIGGER BAR”?It's the cross-shaped part inside the frame that connects the trigger to the firing system. On Glock-pattern pistols, an illegal drop-in device (often called a “switch” or auto sear) can use that part to make the gun fire full-auto. AB 1127 stops California dealers from selling new pistols built that way. It targets the design, not just the Glock name, so many Glock-pattern clones are covered too.
WHAT THE LAW DOES
✕Stops California dealers from selling new pistols with a cruciform trigger bar.
✕Covers most Glock models and many Glock-pattern clones.
✕Has been in effect since July 1, 2026.
WHAT IT DOESN'T DO
✓It doesn't make the Glock you already own illegal. Nobody has to turn one in.
✓It doesn't ban Glock magazines, parts or accessories.
✓It doesn't stop redesigned models from being approved, like the Glock 43X CA.

QUESTIONS

GLOCK IN CALIFORNIA: COMMON QUESTIONS

Can I still buy a new Glock in California?Only redesigned models that are approved. Right now that's the Glock 43X CA. Other Glock pistols can't be sold new by California dealers since July 1, 2026.
I already own a Glock. Do I need to do anything? No. AB 1127 covers sales by dealers. It doesn't make owning a Glock you already have illegal.
Can I still buy Glock magazines and parts?Yes. California-legal 10-round Glock magazines, sights, holsters, lights and parts are still sold. Shop Glock magazines.
What about private-party transfers or law enforcement? Those follow different rules than a new sale from a dealer. Call us at (619) 667-9453 and we'll walk you through it.
Will more Glocks come back?Manufacturers can redesign a pistol and resubmit it for Roster testing, and the court cases are still going. Sign up above and we'll email you when anything changes.
What's closest to a Glock 19?The Springfield Echelon 4.0C, S&W M&P M2.0 Compact and Walther PDP Compact are all 4″-barrel compact 9mm pistols, the same size class as the G19.
NOT SURE WHICH ONE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?Talk to our team. We'll match you to the right California-legal pistol.
