Yes - buying online is 100% legal

Ordering a firearm online doesn't skip a single law. Every firearm still ships to a licensed dealer, and you still complete an in-person background check before you take it home - exactly like buying over the counter. Ordering online simply lets you shop our full California-legal selection from your couch.

A few things to know up front:

• You do not need a special license or permit to order a firearm online.

• You do not need a Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) to place your order. If you don't already have one, your FFL can take care of it for you at pickup - most administer the FSC test on site.

• You'll complete your background check (DROS) in person at a licensed gun store (FFL).

• Firearms never ship to your home - only to a licensed FFL.

• If you're prohibited from owning firearms, this is not a workaround. The background check applies every time, whether you buy in person or online.

Every firearm we sell is California Legal. We make out-of-state models compliant using fixed magazines, featureless configurations, pinned stocks, compliant muzzle devices, 10-round magazines, and whatever else the law requires - so you can buy with confidence that what arrives is legal to own here.

What you'll need before you order

You can place your order right now - there's nothing you need to obtain first. To complete the transfer at the FFL later, have these ready:

• A valid California ID and proof of residency.
• Eligibility to legally own a firearm in California.

No Firearm Safety Certificate? No problem. An FSC is not required to buy online. If you don't already have one, your FFL can handle it for you when you pick up your firearm - most administer the short FSC test right there on site.

Picking up at our La Mesa store? Please review our DROS requirements before your appointment - it lists exactly what to bring.

How the process works

Here's the full journey from order to pickup, so you know what to expect at every step:

1
Order onlineAdd your California-legal firearm and any accessories to your cart and check out.
2
We ship to an FFLYour firearm ships to our La Mesa store (near San Diego) or to a licensed FFL near you. Firearms can only be delivered to a licensed dealer.
3
Start your background check (DROS)You visit the FFL in person, present your ID, and complete the background check paperwork. If you don't have your FSC yet, your FFL can take care of it then.
4
10-day waiting periodCalifornia requires a 10-day waiting period on all firearm purchases. This is state law and applies to every buyer.
5
Pick up your firearmReturn to the FFL to finalize the transfer and take your firearm home.

Because every firearm is verified California-compliant before it leaves our shop, orders typically take a few weeks to reach you. We'll email you as your order moves through each step - so you'll always know where things stand without having to check in. There's never an intentional delay on our end; we move as fast as California's process allows.

Taxes & fees, explained up front

What you pay depends on where you receive your firearm. We'd rather show you everything now than surprise you at the counter. California sales tax applies to every order.

Picking up at our La Mesa store

Everything is collected here at checkout - there's nothing extra to pay later:

• California sales tax

• California firearm & ammunition excise tax (11%)

• DROS / background check fee ($37.19)

No separate transfer fee when you pick up with us.

Shipping to an FFL near you

At checkout you pay:

• California sales tax

Your receiving FFL then collects, in person:

• Their transfer fee (commonly around $100)

• DROS / background check fee ($37.19)

• California firearm & ammunition excise tax (11%)

Transfer fees vary by dealer, so please confirm the exact amount with your chosen FFL before you order. The $37.19 DROS fee is set by the state and is the same everywhere.

Using an FFL near you

Can't make it to San Diego? No problem. Use the FFL Finder on our checkout page to choose a licensed dealer near you. After you order, reach out to your chosen FFL and let them know a firearm is coming - we're required to have a copy of their Federal Firearms License before we can ship, and a quick heads-up from you helps avoid delays.

Your firearm ships via FedEx with a tracking number. Give your FFL a few days to log it into their records before stopping by, so it's ready when you arrive.
