Leupold Dual Dovetail Scope Base – Silver, Fits Smith & Wesson Classic
Leupold has been machining scope mounting hardware in Oregon since long before most of the current market existed, and their ring and base systems are the reference other makers get compared against. The base is the foundation of a scope mounting system — it bolts to the receiver and gives the rings something square and solid to clamp to. Get this part wrong and nothing above it can be right.
It uses a dovetail interface, which locks with a rotating fit rather than clamping over a rail. Steel construction adds weight but resists deformation under clamping force better than aluminum, which is why it stays popular on hard-kicking rifles.
This one is machined specifically for the Smith & Wesson Classic. Mounting hardware is action-specific, so confirm your exact model and generation before ordering — a base that is close but not correct will not sit square.
