Leupold Rifleman Scope Base – 1", High, Black, Fits 870 Rifleman
Leupold has been machining scope mounting hardware in Oregon since long before most of the current market existed, and their ring and base systems are the reference other makers get compared against. The base is the foundation of a scope mounting system — it bolts to the receiver and gives the rings something square and solid to clamp to. Get this part wrong and nothing above it can be right.
It clamps to a Picatinny rail, the MIL-STD-1913 slot pattern used on virtually every modern rifle, so mounting position is adjustable along the rail. Sized for a 1-inch tube, the traditional American standard still used across most hunting scopes. High rings give clearance for large objective bells, 50mm and up, or for a rifle with a tall comb. The trade is a higher sight line over the bore. Aluminum construction keeps weight down without giving up the rigidity a mount needs.
