Trijicon RMR Type 2 Red Dot – 6.5 MOA, Gray
The RMR is the optic other pistol dots get measured against. Trijicon's patented housing is the reason: the shape distributes recoil and impact around the lens rather than through it, which is why the RMR built its reputation on duty guns and hard-use rifles rather than range toys.
The 6.5 MOA dot is the speed configuration of the RMR line. It draws the eye quickly on presentation, which matters more than fine precision on a defensive gun.
Type 2 brought upgraded electronics that fixed the early-model issues with heavy recoil on slide-mounted guns. The adjustable LED gives you eight brightness settings including two for night vision, plus a battery-conservation mode that sleeps the dot after 16 hours and wakes it at the next button press. Battery life runs about four years at a mid setting.
