The Romeo2 is Sig's modular answer to the open-versus-enclosed argument: it ships with shrouds that convert it between an open reflex sight and a fully enclosed one. Run it open on the range where weight and sight picture matter, closed for carry where lint and weather are the threat.
A 1 MOA dot is as fine as pistol optics get. It's the choice for precision work where the dot must not cover what you're aiming at — small targets, longer shots, or anyone who finds a larger dot obscures the sight picture. The circle-dot reticle gives you a bold outer circle around a center dot. The circle draws the eye fast at close range and the dot stays available for precise work, so one optic covers both without a compromise in either direction.
The aluminum housing and top-loading battery are built for duty use, and MOTAC motion activation means it's awake when the gun moves. Being able to change the configuration rather than buy a second optic is the practical argument for it.
