Weaver invented the cross-slot base pattern that the whole industry now calls a Weaver rail. Their mounting hardware has been the affordable, available answer on American hunting rifles for generations. A scope base bridges your receiver and your rings. It's a simple part with no tolerance for sloppy fit, because every error here multiplies by the time it reaches the reticle.
It fits the Weaver cross-slot pattern, standard on a huge number of American hunting rifles. Sized for a 1-inch tube, the traditional American standard still used across most hunting scopes. High rings give clearance for large objective bells, 50mm and up, or for a rifle with a tall comb. The trade is a higher sight line over the bore. Steel construction adds weight but resists deformation under clamping force better than aluminum, which is why it stays popular on hard-kicking rifles.
