Firearm Transfers in San Diego

Bought a firearm from another retailer or a private seller? Ship it to our La Mesa store in San Diego County and we'll handle the DROS and transfer it to you.

• Not California legal yet? Seller won't ship to California? Use our California Middle Man Transfers service instead.

• Arizona residents: we don't do over-the-counter transfers from our Yuma warehouse. It's not a retail location, so please use a local Yuma FFL.
• Before you buy elsewhere: it's often cheaper to buy through WBT. Contact us and ask if we can price match.

By sending a firearm to Wilde Built Tactical, LLC, you agree to the terms below, which WBT may change at any time. WBT reserves the right to decline any transfer.

How It Works

1. Confirm it's California legal. If it isn't, see Middle Man Transfers. We can help.
2. Buy it and ship it to our La Mesa store (address below). If the seller needs our FFL, email ffl@wbtguns.com.
3. Submit the Incoming Item Form. Choose La Mesa, CA Store and Firearms / Barrels. This is how we match your package when it arrives.
4. Create an account on our website using the Sign Up link. Current billing and contact info keeps your transfer from being delayed.
5. We log it in and invoice you. It may take 2–5 business days after arrival to log your firearm and prepare it for DROS. We'll email your invoice from transfers@wbtguns.com.
6. Pay and schedule your DROS. Once your invoice is paid, we'll contact you to schedule your appointment. California's 10-day waiting period applies after DROS.

Sending Your Firearm

All Sellers

Transfers must ship by a common carrier such as FedEx or UPS with adult signature required. Pistols must ship express; rifles can ship ground. Never ship firearms by USPS.

FFL Holders / Retailers

Need a copy of our FFL? Email ffl@wbtguns.com. We can't transfer the firearm to your customer without:

• A copy of your FFL
• CFLC firearms shipment approval (new to CFLC? Learn more here)
• An invoice showing the customer's name, phone, email, and the sale price of the firearm
• A firearm that is California legal before it arrives

Private Sellers

Include a legible copy of the front and back of your current state-issued ID, your phone number and email, and a bill of sale or invoice with the buyer's info. Private parties don't need a CFLC approval letter. Do not ship by USPS.

Is Your Firearm California Legal?

Make sure the gun is California legal before it ships. These resources are guides only, not legal advice. Contact us if you have any doubt.

• Pistols: must appear exactly on the CA DOJ Roster of approved handguns and not be an assault pistol. See the CA pistol flow chart.

Fees & Taxes

Taxes: 8.5% sales tax + 11% excise tax. We're required by law to collect sales tax on the purchase price if it wasn't already paid. Showing that it was paid requires an invoice. No exceptions.

Terms & Conditions

1. Your gun must be 100% California legal before it arrives, including a 10-round (or less) magazine and a CA-approved lock. If it arrives without them, you'll need to buy them from WBT before pickup.
2. Pistols must appear exactly on the CA Roster and not be an assault pistol. Rifles and shotguns must be configured California legal (see the flow charts above).
3. If you send an off-roster handgun that can't be transferred to you, the $125 fee still applies, plus return shipping. You must arrange the return authorization, and the gun won't ship back until that fee is paid in cash (we can't accept credit/debit for this fee).
4. If WBT receives an illegal rifle, shotgun, or assault pistol on your behalf, it will be shipped out of state at your expense. We'll contact you about compliance and payment options. The minimum charge is $250.
5. You agree to pick up your firearm within 90 days of its arrival. Any firearm left past 90 days with no communication is forfeited to WBT and sold to cover accrued storage fees.
6. If you are not eligible to own a firearm, a $150 fee applies to return it to the seller. It can't be transferred to anyone else.
7. WBT does not release firearms with an "Undetermined" DROS status.
8. Please wait for a call or email from WBT to arrange your DROS appointment. See our DROS Requirements.
9. Your name must be on the invoice that came with the firearm. No exceptions.
