Century Arms introduces its newest heavy duty AK rifle, the VSKA (vis-kuh). Re-engineered with critical components using machined S7 tool steel, the VSKA is the result of a special development program for a United States government project that was finalized in 2017.
The VSKA rifle features an all new bolt carrier, front trunnion, and feed ramp machined from S7 tool steel and specially heat treated for maximum durability. S7, often referred to as a “Shock-Resisting Tool Steel,” is commonly used for tools like chisels and jackhammer tips as it has maximum shock resistance and high compression strength, while retaining toughness. The front trunnion and bolt are machined from billet and exceeded the durability goals for the project. Additionally, the VSKA features a carburized 4140 steel bolt, a chrome-moly 4150 barrel, and sports the RAK-1 Enhanced Trigger Group for an impressive trigger pull. Along with a manganese-phosphate finish, Century adds a little style to the heavy-duty brute with an American Maple wood buttstock and forend.
No matter the need, the Century Arms VSKA is built for it!

VSKA
After watching Red Dawn one too many times, I got the bug to own an AK platform rifle. I’ve enjoyed shooting them before, but never owned one as an AR guy. I really wanted to see how one shot compared to my AR-platform rifle chambered in 7.62x39. I didn’t want to go nuts on a range day toy, and found the VSKA to be a basic AK platform rifle, but made in the US (Vermont Stamped Kalashnikov) and at a reasonable price. It was a great purchase and I was very pleasantly surprised. It’s definitely basic—the finish is nothing special and the wood furniture had some nicks, but that doesn’t bother me at all for a basic AK that’s not a safe queen. The sights were spot on out of the box, didn’t touch my sight adjustment tool. After 600 rounds of mixed cheap ammo (but nothing surplus), it had zero issues whatsoever and reliably cycled everything. Everything has stayed tight and functioning properly, nothing rattling loose. It is very satisfying to shoot and I enjoyed it quite a bit, surprisingly preferring it almost right away to my AR-47. I’m still an AR guy, but I did already buy another, fancier AK from WBT. Totally satisfied and WBT guys are great to work with.
